Child language services, assessments, and interventions

Every client has unique abilities, strengths, and goals. We keep it personal, taking a deep dive into physical, emotional, environmental, and cultural influences to develop strategies that work.

Child Language Services

  • These services address early signs of communication disorders or delays. As well as help all children grow and develop language during the critical period from birth to five years of age. Child language prevention services include:

    • Leap Into Language

    • Video Consultations

    • Individual caregiver coaching

    • Screening

  • A complete child language assessment is used to determine the presence or absence of childhood language disorders. We complete a comprehensive assessment to:

    • Determine communicative strengths and needs

    • If appropriate, develop individualized interventional plans

    • Determine appropriate referral sources and resources

    • Provide clients, caregivers, and families with education, knowledge, and strategies

  • Comprehensive treatment plan that addresses each child’s goals. Treatment will focus on developing strategies and behaviors that allow children independence and control over their language and communication. Caregivers and families are involved in treatment sessions so that communication strategies can be used in settings outside of our therapeutic sessions.

    Treatment sessions take place in a child’s home, at a community venue or via Telehealth if appropriate, and typically last 45 to 60 minutes.

Child Literacy Services

Well-developed reading and writing skills are crucial for academic, professional, and personal success. The Big Picture SLP offers programs that target an individual’s decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, and writing abilities.
